On grounds of obtained information, proposal of content and boundaries has been made. The practical section deals with the implementation of the application´s functionality.

Representation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Czech media coverage

This master's thesis focuses on the image of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Czech media, specifically on the presence of bias in news coverage. The thesis examines what, if any, elements of media bias are present in Czech media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The theoretical part of the thesis describes bias and related concepts, and then discusses the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including a closer look at Czech- Israeli and Czech-Palestinian relations. The thesis then presents selected foreign and Czech research that examines the media portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As a method, the thesis uses quantitative content analysis and analyses news articles published in the five most read online media during Israel-Palestine crisis in May 2021. The analysis focuses on the presence of contextual information about the conflict, the labelling of actions, actors and territories, and the way in which victims are reported. The results show the picture of the conflict presented by the Czech media is incomplete and distorted from different perspectives. However, the results do not show that the coverage is clearly biased in favour of (or against) the Israeli or Palestinian side.

The Impact of News on Videogame Stock Market Prices and Volatility

The thesis investigates the impact of social media and news headline sentiment on stock prices, specifically comparing gaming firms to companies from other industries. Tweets and news headlines containing keywords referring to four selected gaming and four non-gaming companies were collected over 5 and 3 months, respectively. Both tweets and news collected came from the general users or media rather than focusing solely on financial ones. The data were aggregated into daily values. Daily stock price data were also collected for each examined company to derive returns and volatility. The data were analysed using a vector autoregression model in combination with Granger causality. The study found no significant differences between gaming and non-gaming sectors. The polarity of sentiment showed no effect on stock prices. However, when sentiment was divided into different emotions, some significance was observed, although the findings varied across individual firms regardless of their sectors. It was concluded that when using sentiment for market predictions, it is beneficial to either utilize specifically financial media or determine the specific type of sentiment that influences a particular stock. Framing of the covid-19 pandemic in selected Czech media

This diploma thesis provides an overview of how various Czech print and online media informed about the COVID-19 pandemic. The frames used by Czech media about the pandemic are identified by using a quantitative content analysis method. They are subsequently analyzed with regards to their use among various media and in different periods of time. Besides the generic and issue-specific frames, the research also concentrates on the frequence of use of securitization frame and war metaphors. The articles are also analysed from the perspective of their attributability. The findings are illustrated with concrete examples from the articles.

Trends in the news consumption within the current young generation

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of consumption of news content among representatives of the current young generation Z in the Czech Republic. The thesis aims to describe how university students from generation Z consume news content, what are their habits when obtaining current information and how representatives from generation Z perceive the issue of news content that is not created by journalists, but by citizen journalists or influencers. The theoretical part of the work is devoted to news, new formats and changes in journalism and in the media in the 21st century. Then it describes how people consume news and the characteristics of Generation Z. Theory is followed by research, which has two parts. First, a quantitative research method, specifically i tis a questionnaire survey among representatives of generation Z, which aims to answer the first research question: How do current university students, representatives of generation Z, consume news content. Media image of war in Ukraine in a children's program "Zprávičky" on ČT :D

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the media image of the beginning of the war in Ukraine in the program Zpravicky on Czech Television :D. It will describe how the current topic of the war in Ukraine was presented to child viewers and how this news differed from the news for "adults". Primarily, the thesis examines through content analysis the news that conveyed up-to- date information about the war to children. It will examine the frequency of news about Ukraine as well as the form in which the news was conveyed. Depending on this, the theoretical part of the thesis will look at media perspectives on child audiences, research on children's relationship with the media, etc. CT :D will be described with an emphasis on the news - the children's programme Zpravicky. The author assumes that with the escalation of the situation in Ukraine, there has also been an increase in news reporting on Ukraine in children's news and the news has been reported in a certain way according to the children's broadcasting code. The thesis map how much news were included in the broadcasts and and what form they were in.
